The OpenSees training course is the main source of income and activity for the OpenSees House. Due to the advantages of non-residential learning, this house has chosen to offer online OpenSees training.
The sale of OpenSees video training was first introduced by the OpenSees House in 2016 (1395 in the Iranian calendar). During the period from 2016 to 2022 (1395-1401), many researchers benefited from the OpenSees training courses offered by this house. The feedback we received from our valued audience has been very encouraging and motivating for us to continue our journey. These training courses are part of the first-generation training section.
It has been several years since the production and sale of this OpenSees video course collection. During this time, a significant portion of the high production costs of these courses has been recovered by OpenSees House. As a result, from 2020 onwards, the price of these courses has experienced virtually no increase. This ensures that the courses continue to offer great value for our dear audience, making them a worthwhile investment.

In the first generation of courses, we tried to prepare our OpenSees training courses by applying a relative categorization of topics to address different needs. However, this generation of courses needed updating for the following reasons:
- The volume of the course material was relatively large, and the topics often went beyond the needs of a single research project. As a result, students were paying for some sessions that did not necessarily apply to their specific needs. At the same time, for some specific needs, there might not have been a complete answer within these courses.
- On the other hand, a large portion of our audience requested a reduction in course fees and the option for installment payments.
- Another reason was the increasing demand from our audience to address new tools and topics, such as the Python programming language, which was being increasingly raised.
All these factors were the driving force behind our decision to produce and offer the new generation of OpenSees video tutorials. A detailed explanation of our approach to creating this new generation is provided in the “Educational Strategy of OpenSees House” document. In this page, we will first provide a brief overview of the guiding principles behind the new generation of OpenSees tutorials, and then we will provide the necessary information and access links to them.
Why online and video training?
Online education provides equal learning opportunities for both remote and local audiences, whether they are busy professionals, students with less time, young or elderly. In video-based and remote learning, students can watch the course from the comfort and peace of their home. They can review the class content multiple times using the recorded videos. Additionally, whenever needed, they can contact the course instructor to resolve any issues or clarify doubts.
From the organizer’s perspective, the lack of need to rent a physical classroom for OpenSees training is a significant advantage. Additionally, the ability to provide recorded content to multiple students helps distribute the course costs among a larger group. As a result, online OpenSees training can be more fair, higher in quality, and much more affordable compared to in-person OpenSees classes.

Time process of offering courses
The OpenSees House defines the new generation of courses based on the prioritized goals and needs of its audience. After each course is defined, a timeline is followed that ultimately leads to the production of a comprehensive video tutorial set for OpenSees. Your support and participation in these courses play a unique and special role at each stage of this process, which we will explain further below.
Pre-registration
Pre-registration for a course is considered as your expression of interest in participating. Once the number of interested individuals reaches the required threshold, we will contact you to finalize your registration. Additionally, you can take advantage of the early registration option, which offers a 30% discount on the course fee. This not only reduces your cost but also serves as an encouragement and support for us to conduct the course as soon as possible.
In Progress
Our courses are held in the virtual space. We divide each lesson into segments of about 10 to 15 minutes. Between these segments, we provide opportunities for questions and answers. Based on the questions asked, we may add supplementary explanations to the initial presentation during the session. All parts of the course are recorded in high quality, and the edited videos are uploaded to a sharing platform. From the very beginning of the course, participants are given access codes to the course videos. Participant presence provides us with an opportunity to receive feedback on the presentation, while it gives them the chance to ask questions.
OpenSees video sales
After the completion of the course, it will not be repeated in live or in-person formats. The reason for this is our ongoing focus on creating new content and features. Additionally, the video materials are continuously updated based on questions submitted by participants. This approach ensures that both we and you avoid the need for spending time on rehosting or attending the course again, while also providing the most up-to-date and relevant information.
OpenSees House has a long and successful experience in producing and supporting OpenSees training video series. This experience ensures that even for attendees in live sessions, there are rarely questions that require additional explanations. Most questions that arise are typically related to newly introduced topics within OpenSees training. For those receiving the course in video format, there is the added advantage of being able to pause during playback and revisit the material with sufficient attention. This feature greatly facilitates resolving any questions that may arise, allowing for deeper understanding and clarity.
Overall, the years of experience at OpenSees House have shown that video-based training is an excellent alternative to virtual or in-person courses. With proper support and timely video updates, offline OpenSees training proves to be more effective and, of course, more cost-efficient than traditional in-person formats. The ability to review material at your own pace, combined with continuous updates and the convenience of remote learning, makes it an ideal solution for many learners.
Additional notes
Before registering for the course or courses you are interested in, please pay attention to the following points.

- In order to save on production costs and time required for viewing the courses, we do not repeat the explanations of each course in subsequent steps. This means that the goal of each OpenSees course can only be achieved by starting from the beginning and completing all the prerequisites.
- In each course, a set of OpenSees training video files will be shared with you. These files are encrypted to prevent potential misuse. Additionally, user information will be displayed in the background of the videos to identify the purchase. Furthermore, the code issued for each course can only be used on one personal computer and one mobile phone.
